As one southerner to another, I know that sometimes the truth hurts. I've been hurt by the truth in the past and I'm sure that at one time, you have too.
Those who react with the anger that "she" displayed are often hurt by the very fact that indeed, it is true and that she just doesn't want to accept it but knows there is nothing she can do to change it, and she couldn't come right out and call you a lier (because she knows it was true) so out of a fit of rage, the first thing she thought of was a "racist". Maybe she has been taught that from early in life.
Some people think that phrase will cure any situation, far be it from the truth. In order for "Racism" to truly to wiped out in our world, we must ALL learn to accept the truth, no matter how painful, because over the years many hateful things have been said on both sides of the fence. We must all realize that the days of who's better than who are numbered and those numbers are growing short.
Pray for someone like that, don't belittle them because they don't get it, they don't know any better.
I'm sure that today when she looks back on all of this, she will be sorry for the whole incident. I,m sure that she 'll realize that most of the time when someone states that someone is a "Racist', most of the time they are the racist themselves…

Don't be bitter, forgive her and let it go….. It takes a stronger person to forgive than it does to keep it alive… Life's to short to let something like this consume your thoughts…

The communist on this site barely know how to read and if it wasn't for spell check, 90% of them couldn't write. Why would you think they would they be at all interested in books.

Funny how the priorities in the country are different for different people. Ann Coulter who is so popular because she always uses easily referenced sources is vilified by the left while those same people give a lying scumbag liberal a national anchor spot making millions a year for 20+ years.

You're basic premise is false, that anyone is ignoring the positives of living under Arabs vs. living under Christians during the past. Did I get it right?

However, UNDER is still UNDER. We want freedom & rights. Under Arabs was sometimes good & sometime horrible. Arabs & Muslims supported Hitler & had concentration camps. Going back more, there was a golden age with relative freedoms. RELATIVE! Jews & Christians were dhimmihs, paying high extras taxes & wearing a yellow badge of identification.

Jews have been in the region for over 3000+ years.

If it weren't for Muslim's there would be no Jews alive? What?? Muslim's haven't been some grand protectors of Jews. They have slaughtered & harrassed them. Other times they've accepted them. Same as in Europe under Christians. It was better than under Christianity — but that doesn't make it some grand "protection." It's like Kurds or Armenians, kind of sucessful under Muslims, kind of not.

As for relationship – Israeli Jews are majority Mizrahi & Sephardi. They have fond memories of living peacefully together. Before the Ottoman empire breakup & the Arabs got their idea that they would be the next empire in the region & Jews got the idea that as long as the UN was handing out countries, they too wanted a sliver in the place that is home for Jews.

Crusades, take a closer look at history. They killed Jews in Rhineland at home, where there weren't any Muslims. It was easier than getting all the way to the Middle East to battle with Muslims. That's what the writers are writing about. Protectors? And in ME, at points the Muslims protected the Jews at others they slaughtered them.

You've got a lot of anger but it's misdirected. Jews know more about this history of decent relationships with Muslim's than Christians tend to know. However, it hasn't been so decent ever since the world modernized & Jews decided not to be at the whim of the next empire. There are whole books on this past Arab- Jewish relationships that go into a lot more positives than you seem to be seeing. They are big thick books & very popular classics for anyone trying to learn the back ground history. (I haven't read this one, but the one "The Arabs & the Jews" is supposed to be good – it's older & I haven't glanced to see it's point of view yet. It's not a video or pamphlet. It's a thick book.)

And finally, don't take a book or two & insist "this is the Jewish view." That is zenophobic lack of knowledge about how Judaism works. Jews have as many opinions as their are Jews. Bard's isn't supposed to be a full summary of the history, just a quick summary of CURRENT issues & lies & myths told (he's countering the lie that Jews are some newcomers). The other is a video? From a short video you are assuming what's not in the video is not known about?? That video starts in 1930's, not during the crusades.

Arabs in current aren't tolerant or helpful for the most part at Israel. So, current writings reflect that. For 5 solid years Israel suffered daily mulitple bombing attacks on her civilians while shopping, at buses, kids riding to school. Arabs painting their own images in Israeli minds with each new bomb & each new creative storyline.

So when telling about CURRENT events, Jewish literature sometimes mentions that Jews have been there for over 3000+ years, because it's a CURRENT myth that Jews haven't been. The literature isn't a summary of 3000 years, it isn't about Arabs. They are short burbs about CURRENT situation & myths around it.
