Issues We're Fighting For
In The Current Congress

VOICES HEARD is working hard to advance the Pro-Family agenda at the local, state, and national levels. If you have any issues you feel we need to address please feel free to contact us.

  1. Support the Sanctity of Marriage at All Levels of Government.

This November eleven states have referendums on their ballots to declare marriage as the union between one man and one woman. We strongly support these efforts and encourage anyone living in Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Utah to be sure to register and vote for this critical issue. So far this year, Missouri and Louisiana have passed similar ballot initiatives by wide margins. They join Alaska, Hawaii, Nebraska, and Nevada that have all previously passed this sensible law.

  2. Pass the Federal Marriage Amendment

On September 30th, in the U.S House of Representatives, a majority of congressmen voted in favor of the Federal Marriage Amendment (FMA) but failed to reach the 2/3rds required to move the issue onto the senate and the states for ratification. While VOICES HEARD is reluctant to make any changes to the United States Constitution, in this case we feel it is justified. Without this amendment we will remain at the mercy of an out of control judiciary where a single, unelected judge can make far reaching decisions based on their personal views. We will continue to push for a vote in the U.S. Senate and for reconsideration by the House next year.

  3. End Judicial Activism

One of the major problems confronting our society is out of control judicial activism. Federal Judges, with lifetime tenure and no accountability to the American people, can with a tap of their gavel overturn laws and create new "rights" out of thin air. Judges created the "right" to an abortion not the legislature or the people. This must stop.

  4. Getting Pro-Family Judicial Nominees Confirmed

There are some judges who are willing to abide by the law instead of creating it. Some senators continue to filibuster the votes for highly qualified candidates who would be easily confirmed if they were allowed to reach the senate floor for a vote. VOICES HEARD strongly objects to this abuse of the confirmation process by a handful of politically motivated, pro-abortion ideologues that will do everything possible to prevent an up or down vote for each nominee. This must stop.

  5. Support Education Choice

Nothing is more important than the education of our children. VOICES HEARD supports educational choice for all Americans. This includes home schooling and vouchers for religious or private schools to allow children to escape horrific public schools. We also stand for increasing standards and accountability within our nations school systems.

  6. Support Religious Freedom and Religious Tolerance for Everyone

As Christians we respect and honor all religions. In the United States freedom to worship as you choose is the accepted norm. Unfortunately, Christians and other people of faith are being persecuted worldwide. VOICES HEARD condemns any act of intolerance.

  7. Support the Freedom of Speech for Churches

Churches have been at the forefront of change for the entire history of our republic. Without the courageous southern Black ministers in the 50s and 60s, the Civil Rights act would have never have passed. Today, anti-Christian forces are trying to intimidate and silence the voices from the pulpit with the threat of the loss of tax-exempt status. This heavy-handed and transparent attack on Religious Freedom will not stand. VOICES HEARD supports Walter Jones's (R-SC) "Houses of Worship Free Speech Restoration Act" .

  8. Support "Holly's Law"

Holly Patterson, a vibrant young woman, died only 19 days after her eighteenth birthday. She was killed by the anti-abortion drug RU-486. This drug was rushed to approval by pro-abortion forces as the magic bullet to eliminate unwanted pregnancies. VOICES HEARD strongly supports all efforts to remove this ghastly drug from the market.

  9. Protect Our Children from Pornography

Our future and our most precious resource are our children. VOICES HEARD strongly supports all efforts the eliminate pornography and restrict children's access to "Adult" Internet sites and unmonitored chat rooms. We urge all parents to install filtering software on their computers and closely supervise their children while they are online. We also urge congress to increase the maximum current fine to broadcasters of $27,500 for putting obscene or indecent material on the public airwave. This doesn't even amount to a slap on the wrist for major media conglomerates.

  10. Keeping God in the Pledge of Allegiance

While anti-Christian forces have attempted to strip God and any religious reference from all public places, the vast majority of America's support keeping the phrase, "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. VOICES HEARD strongly supports this commonsense position.

  11. Reduce the Media Bias Against Christians

In today's "Politically Correct" society, the major media is very respectful of all groups except for Christians. People of faith are routinely mocked and ridiculed by comedians and newsreaders. VOICES HEARD works hard to point out the most egregious examples of this form of discrimination.

  12. Securing our Borders

Illegal aliens continue to pour across our borders with little effort by the government to stem to flow. Recently, there have been reports of potential terrorists avoiding tightened airport security and merely walking into our country. Unless we want to have a duplication of the horrible hostage slaughter that occurred in a Russian school, we need to get control of our borders, now.
